Charles E. Argoff, M.D. Dr. Argoff is a professor of neurology at Albany Medical College (NY) and director of the Comprehensive Pain Center at Albany Medical Center (NY). He received his medical degree from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, and completed an internship in the Department of Medicine and a residency in the Department of Neurology at the State University of New York in Stony Brook, and a fellowship in developmental and metabolic neurology at the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Dr Argoff is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the American Academy of Neurology, among other professional organizations. He serves on the editorial board of the Clinical Journal of Pain and as a reviewer for the Journal of Pain, Brain, JAMA, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain, Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, and Clinical Journal of Pain. He is co-editor of the Neuropathic Pain Section of Pain Medicine. Dr. Argoff has served as a guest editor for and published articles in the Clinical Journal of Pain and Current Pain and Headache Reports, among other peer-reviewed journals. He has written on many types of pain, including myofascial pain, spinal and radicular pain, and neuropathic pain. He has written on such treatments as topical analgesics, interventional pain management, botulinum toxins, and oral analgesics, and has contributed many book chapters as well. Dr. Argoff had an active role in the development of the diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain guidelines published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, and he has contributed to other published neuropathic pain treatment guidelines. He is one of the editors of the recently published textbook Raj's Practical Management of Pain, Fourth Edition. He also recently published the third edition of Pain Management Secrets. He lives with his wife, Patty, and their three wonderful children, David, Melanie and Emily, in Loudonville, New York. |

Bradley S. Galer, M.D. Dr. Galer obtained his B.A. in biology-psychology from Wesleyan University (CT) and his M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (NY). He completed a neurology residency at Albert Einstein, where he was chief resident and then two pain fellowships, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering (NY) and the University of California at San Francisco. He has been an assistant professor at the University of Washington (Seattle) and associate professor at Albert Einstein, where he cared for patients, performed clinical research, and taught. In 2000, he joined Endo Pharmaceuticals as senior medical officer. Currently, he is president of the Pain Group of Nuvo Research. Dr. Galer is a founding member and former
chair of the Pain Medicine Section of the American Academy of Neurology, as
well as a member of the Initiative on Methods, Measurement, and Pain
Assessment in Clinical Trials, a collaboration between pharma, the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health,
academia, and patient advocacy groups. He has published more than 200
articles and book chapters, as well as lectured world-wide. He has
co-authored the gold-standard book Clinical Guide to Neuropathic Pain,
is the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Current Pain and Headache
Reports, and is on the Editorial Board of The Clinical Journal of
Pain. He was awarded Best Doctor in America and honored by the
Neuropathy Association for his work in neuropathic pain. He is on the
Board of Directors for the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome
Association. He is founder of Galer Estate Vineyard & Winery
located in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania. He is married to
college sweetheart, Lele, and has three great kids: Alex, Peter, and
Simon. |
